Purple Haze Dragon Fruit Cutting 7″ – 9″ size plant already rooting. This variety is delicious and sweet grape flavor with beautiful purple flesh fruit inside. Fruit size ranges from 1 – 2 lbs. 

Dragon fruit plants are very easy to grow. Giant beautiful flowers begin appearing in May then 30-40 days later you’ll start harvesting a continuous supply of fresh, healthy and delicious fruit throughout the harvest season June – November. 

Dragon fruit is sweet, juicy and refreshing. It’s best served chilled. It can be stored in a refrigerator for 3-4 weeks. Keep it in a plastic bag to maximize freshness. To eat it, cut the fruit in half in any direction, the flesh will easily peel away from the rind, or you can scoop it out with a spoon. Our colorful varieties make a beautiful addition to fruit salads, parfaits, drinks, pastries, jellies and syrups. Unopened flower buds can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. 

Dragon fruit can be kept in a container or planted in the ground. Cover or bring them inside when temperatures go below 40 degrees. Full sun is ideal, they will perform well with 6 – 8 hours of sun. Less fruit will be produced if it is grown in a shaded area. Water one time per week in the dry season. They prefer well draining composted soil. Nutrients are key in to the initial growth of the plant and a 10-10-10 blend should be used. When flowering and fruiting begins it is beneficial to use a blend such as 8-3-9 to help with bloom and fruit optimization. Add manure in spring or fall. If you are in an area with a lot of rain, copper fungicide sprays can help protect the plant from disease. Follow the product label instructions per the manufacturer.
