We get a lot of great questions—from growing dragon fruit at home to planning a farm visit. This page is designed to give you clear answers while pointing you to deeper resources when available.

Visiting the Farm

Can I walk around the farm on my own?

No. Self-guided access is not permitted. Jessie’s Tropical Fruit Farm is a working farm, and for safety reasons guests are only allowed on the property during guided tours.

Working farms present hazards such as uneven ground, tools, equipment, and active work areas. Guided tours ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Do you offer farm tours?

Yes, we offer guided farm tours, but they are by advance booking only.

Tours are limited and only offered during certain times of the year based on seasonal availability. Check our calendar for tour availability.

When are tours available?

Tours are typically offered depending on:

  • What fruit is producing
  • Overall crop availability
  • Farm conditions

Because this varies year to year, tour availability is never guaranteed.

Tours must be scheduled in advance. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Farm Hours & Scheduling

What are your hours?

Our hours change by season based on weather, harvest cycles, and farm activity.

Please always check our online calendar before visiting to confirm:

  • Current farm store hours
  • Closures
  • Special events or tour availability

This is the best way to ensure we’re open when you plan to visit.

Growing Tropical Fruit

Do you offer growing advice for tropical fruit trees?

Yes—education is a big part of our mission.

We provide:

  • In-person guidance when purchasing plants
  • Online planning charts and nutrient schedules
  • Variety-specific information on our website

For in-depth learning, we also create educational video content.

Where can I learn more about growing dragon fruit?

We recommend starting with our YouTube video:

“Growing Dragon Fruit at Jessie’s Tropical Fruit Farm”

This video covers real-world growing practices based on what works here on the farm. We will be adding more educational videos over time covering dragon fruit, sugarloaf pineapple, and other tropical crops.

Do you teach how to grow sugarloaf pineapple?

Yes. Sugarloaf pineapple is one of the crops we grow and teach.

We currently have a YouTube video available titled “Growing Sugarloaf Pineapples – Jessie’s Tropical Fruit Farm”, which walks through real-world growing practices based on what works here on the farm.

Additional videos and resources will continue to be added to our YouTube channel and linked on our website as they become available.

Do you sell dragon fruit, mango, avocado, and other tropical fruit plants?

Yes. Our nursery offers a rotating selection of:

  • Dragon fruit (pitaya) plants
  • Mango trees
  • Avocado trees
  • Passion fruit vines
  • Pineapples and other edible plants

Availability varies by season. If you’re looking for a specific plant, feel free to contact us—special orders may be possible.

Are your mango and avocado trees suitable for containers?

Yes. We carry dwarf or semi-dwarf mango and avocado varieties that can be grown in containers and maintained at manageable sizes with proper pruning.

Not all mango and avocado varieties are dwarf. Always verify the variety before purchasing, as standard trees can grow extremely large if left unpruned.

Fruit Sales & Availability

When is fresh fruit available?

Fresh fruit availability is seasonal and varies by crop.

Dragon fruit, for example, is typically available June through November, but exact timing depends on weather and production.

We recommend joining our email list to receive harvest updates and pre-order notifications.

Farm Policies & Common Questions

Do you allow pets?

No. Pets are not permitted on the farm. Service animals are the only exception.

Are children allowed on tours?

Yes, children are welcome on tours.

Please note that tours are educational in nature and best suited for children five years and older.

If you have children under five, they must be kept close to a parent or guardian at all times. We walk the full five acres during tours, much of it in full sun, and the farm contains natural hazards typical of a working agricultural environment.

Our goal is to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all guests, including babies and young children.

Do you offer U-pick?

U-pick is not offered as a standalone activity.

However, during guided tours, guests may have the opportunity to pick, taste, and take home some fruit, depending on what is in season and available at the time.

Do you ship plants?

Yes. We ship a variety of plants, which are listed on our website. Availability varies by season and plant type.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • All major credit cards
  • Cash
  • Zelle
  • PayPal

Education & Coaching

Do you offer coaching for people who want to start a farm?

Yes—a tropical fruit farm coaching program is in development.

This program will be designed for people who want to:

  • Start their own tropical fruit farm
  • Avoid costly beginner mistakes
  • Learn from real-world farm experience

More details will be shared as the program becomes available.
